Mads Mikkelsen - Portrait Painting Tutorial

Image
Helloooo, Universe! I've been away from my blog for a long time and apparently I'm still alive. So, I decided to write again with a tutorial of my latest portrait painting. Here it is... Mads Mikkelsen, my current obsession I used this photo asa reference, only the head (because I'm too lazy to paint the body) and did a little improvisation with his hair: The Gorgeous Mads First, let's start with my colour palette. If you've read  my old tutorial of Luke Skywalker painting , it's basically almost the same. Not only the colour palette, but also the whole technique. I use these colours in almost every painting I made. Always use these colours... Okay, you're ready with the paint now. Let's start to draw... 1. Sketch Sketch When making a full colour portrait painting, I usually draw a not-too-detailed-sketch. As you can see on the picture above, the sketch is basically just thin outlines. I add the details later. 2. Base...

Luke Skywalker_Step by Step

Image
As you can see on my previous blog entry , I made a watercolor painting of Luke Skywalker on a blank A6 size postcard. While making this painting, I have scanned some of the processes in order to make a step by step explanation of it. Here you go… 1. Sketch First step is making the sketch. Actually I didn’t plan to make this painting at all. I was just browsed too much about Star Wars on last Wednesday regarding their blu ray release. I love Star Wars. And I just realized that I never made a fan art of it. Not at all. Wondered why. So there I was… Sitting in front of my laptop which was displaying Luke Skywalker picture. I took my paper and B pencil (yeah, I always draw a sketch with B pencil. Never use 2B.) and I ended up with this drawing. It’s a small drawing. Only on A6 paper. 2. Prepare all you need My weapoonnnns! Yes, they are things I need in this painting. The sketch, B pencil, eraser, watercolor paint (mostly Cotman, since my fav watercolor brand, Sakura tr...

This is my portrait painting of Ben Ward from Ideals. I sent this pic to their email and Ben just replied it. He said he loves it and he uses it as his profile pic on Facebook. Ideals also posted my painting on their official facebook page . They said it’s the best fan art ever. Thank you so much, Ben. Thank you, Ideals. Keep making great music! Tessa x

I Met the Man!

Image
I was still hanging around after the Hurts’ gig, hoping to see Theo and Adam in person. I stayed around Nylon Mall (the same place where they held the press conference) because I heard they’re gonna have afterparty there. When I was standing there, I saw Adam was approaching. He’s surrounded by a lot of venue security (almost 10 men I guess) and one crew. I looked at him and he smiled. I was holding my drawing of him . When he was nearby, I asked him, “Adam, would you like to sign this for me?” He said, “Sure.” As I gave Adam the drawing and marker, the securities approached and one of them pushed me. I was pissed off. I said (with high tone to the security), “Hey, he doesn’t mind.” Adam was so nice. He was standing beside me and looked at my drawing. I said, “I made it.” Adam said, “Incredible! Where do you want me to sign it?” I just pointed the blank area on the drawing and said, “Thank you.” He also asked my name and he wrote it on my drawing. Oh my God, I’m going to...

Brett Anderson

YAY! It's Brett Anderson from Suede! I made this portrait painting to express the euphoria of Suede's upcoming gig in Jakarta. Yes, I'm gonna see Suede live this Saturday (March 19th). I couldn't tell you how happy I am. I've been a fan of the band since 14 years ago and I missed their concert on 2003. Well, things happened when the promoter announced the ticketing system. We have to trade-in the oh-so-famous-smartphone Blackberry which costs at least 300 USD in order to get the ticket. But Suede fans didn't give up. Some of us spoke our mind on the band forum. Luckily, the band management showed up and told us that they will try their best to find a solution. And yes, they did have solution for us. The management decided to giveaway 500 tickets to Suede fans by answering a series of Suede related question. On March 10, they give us a link to win those tickets and I think it's more than just 500 tickets. That was fantastic! Social forum has beaten the capit...
