Mads Mikkelsen - Portrait Painting Tutorial

Image
Helloooo, Universe! I've been away from my blog for a long time and apparently I'm still alive. So, I decided to write again with a tutorial of my latest portrait painting. Here it is... Mads Mikkelsen, my current obsession I used this photo asa reference, only the head (because I'm too lazy to paint the body) and did a little improvisation with his hair: The Gorgeous Mads First, let's start with my colour palette. If you've read  my old tutorial of Luke Skywalker painting , it's basically almost the same. Not only the colour palette, but also the whole technique. I use these colours in almost every painting I made. Always use these colours... Okay, you're ready with the paint now. Let's start to draw... 1. Sketch Sketch When making a full colour portrait painting, I usually draw a not-too-detailed-sketch. As you can see on the picture above, the sketch is basically just thin outlines. I add the details later. 2. Base...

Boba Fett Sketch

Image
Good night, y'all! Or good morning to everyone on different side of the world. It is Monday early morning here and I just can't sleep. So I grab my paper and pencil to start making something. I remember that I want to make a series of postcards of Star Wars fanart. I've made the first one, which is Luke Skywalker postcard. Since I decided to give it to a friend, I need to paint another one. But for this moment, I'm just in the mood to make another character postcard. It is Boba Fett. Here is the sketch. I'll update the progress soon! Tessa x

Luke Skywalker_Step by Step

Image
As you can see on my previous blog entry , I made a watercolor painting of Luke Skywalker on a blank A6 size postcard. While making this painting, I have scanned some of the processes in order to make a step by step explanation of it. Here you go… 1. Sketch First step is making the sketch. Actually I didn’t plan to make this painting at all. I was just browsed too much about Star Wars on last Wednesday regarding their blu ray release. I love Star Wars. And I just realized that I never made a fan art of it. Not at all. Wondered why. So there I was… Sitting in front of my laptop which was displaying Luke Skywalker picture. I took my paper and B pencil (yeah, I always draw a sketch with B pencil. Never use 2B.) and I ended up with this drawing. It’s a small drawing. Only on A6 paper. 2. Prepare all you need My weapoonnnns! Yes, they are things I need in this painting. The sketch, B pencil, eraser, watercolor paint (mostly Cotman, since my fav watercolor brand, Sakura tr...

Is It Really Made by Me?

Image
I couldn't believe I made these... These drawing were taken from my first comic, Sell My Soul, which is published in 2006. I made the script and drawings when I was still in college. I think it took about three years to finish this project. (Yeah, I have problem with my speed... :p) The pictures above showed the detail on the background (which is I still couldn't believe I have the patient to make all those tiny details). The story took place in London, my favorite city and this project was a prove of my obsession through the city. I haven't visited London when I made this comic. I had a chance to stay in London three years after I published this book. I did the best I could while I was stayed there. I had a plan to make my second comic with the same setting. I took all the possible pictures, all the reference I might need in the future. But then the miserable disaster happened, I lost my laptop and I didn't have the backup data. I lost all my references I collected du...
