The New Ideals

Two days ago, my favorite London-based indie band announced the change of their member on their Facebook page. Yes, it is about IDEALS, the band that is definitely have my 100% of support. They posted about the sad news on around 6 pm UK time and uploaded their new pic with the new guitarist as well. Here it is...

From left to right: Simon Wilson (bass), Benjamin Ward (drums), Andrew Major (vocal + guitar), Ben Smith (guitar)

Ben Smith is the new guitarist. As far as I concerned, Ben Smith is Ideals' third guitarist after their first guitarist, Matthew Bunkell and their second one, Johnny Healey left the band. Personally, I was so sad when I first heard about Johnny's leaving. I like Johnny. I like his guitar playing as well. I had a chance to speak to him on Facebook chat and based on his words and his way of speaking, I think he's a nice person. I just hope this is the best decision for him. Good luck on whatever you do, Johnny!
I got this sad news from Ben (by Ben, I mean Ben Ward, the drummer, whose name is now extended to Benjamin Ward, according the member info on Ideals' Facebook page). Well, actually I asked him first about this news and he confirmed it. But I just kept that in my mind. I didn't tell any soul about it since I have no right to say anything about their internal news. I just wait until they finally revealed their new formation.

After this bad news, Ideals gave us a good news. This wonderful blog, LONDONTHEINSIDE..., has chosen them as the band of the month. You can read the full blog here. There's an interview with Andrew and another picture of them.

(I love the color of the pictures. And what a lovely pub! I guess the pictures took place at Kings Arm on Tooley Street London.)

For anyone who reads this blog and wonders who Ideals are and how good their music is, you can check out their Facebook page. I think they still have free download of their single, Reflection, for anyone who clicks the 'like' button on their page. You can watch their videos on their YouTube's channel as well. And if you fall in love with them, please do not hesitate to pre-order their forth coming EP, Let Your Anger Leave You, on their label store. It is a limited edition of 12" vinyl. All the 300 copies will be signed by the band and if you're lucky enough to be the first 50, you will get the poster of their EP artwork as well.
