Oh My Star Wars...

Greetings to every creature in the galaxy far far away.

Today is February 10th Earth time and it means Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace 3D is being released today, but sadly not in my country :'( :'( :'( Honestly, prequel trilogy is definitely not my favorite Star Wars movie... but still, I really want to see it in 3D. Not to mention, there's one of my favorite actors in this movie, Liam Neeson. Also, there are some scenes in The Phantom Menace that would be awesome if we can see it in 3D, such as the podracing and Darth Maul fighting scene. So sad I can't watch it here :(

When I heard about the news of the movie being re-released in 3D, I was a bit upset because George Lucas decided to release Episode I first. And I also heard that the whole saga will be released in 3D, one movie per year. It means the original trilogy will be released on... wait... let me count first. A New Hope on 2015, The Empire Strikes Back on 2016 and Return of the Jedi on 2017. Whaatttt??? I will be so old by the time they're released :( But now, I feel soooo lucky they chose to release Episode I first. I cannot imagine how depressed I am if I can't watch the original trilogy in 3D. Of course I never watch them on theatre and really really want to. Mostly, I am just obsessively re-watch the original trilogy DVDs.

I remember I haven't written about my Darth Maul action figure on my blog. So, I think today is the perfect time! Yes, this is one of my Star Wars collections. It is Darth Maul from Star Wars Unleashed series, produced by Hasbro on 2002. I bought this from a collector who sold some of his Star Wars collections. The figure is still in good condition and I paid for a reasonable price.

Not a new one of course, but it's still sealed.

So I opened it...

and here we go...

Glad I can have this figure as my collection. I'm still looking for another figure from Unleashed series and I'm just hoping I have money to buy them :p

Boba Fett Sketch

Good night, y'all! Or good morning to everyone on different side of the world.

It is Monday early morning here and I just can't sleep. So I grab my paper and pencil to start making something. I remember that I want to make a series of postcards of Star Wars fanart. I've made the first one, which is Luke Skywalker postcard. Since I decided to give it to a friend, I need to paint another one. But for this moment, I'm just in the mood to make another character postcard. It is Boba Fett. Here is the sketch. I'll update the progress soon!

Got a DD on DeviantArt

Book of Ideals

Hello, everyone out there in whatever galaxy you are!

I just wanna tell you that I got Daily Deviation (DD) on DeviantArt yesterday (Friday, Jan 27th). That means my chosen work will be featured on the site for a day. Which work is it? Apparently it's my papercutting-bound-into-book work. Yes, it is Book of Ideals, the artwork that I made for Ideals, the four-piece-band from London, UK. Got a DD means that everyone who visit the site most likely will see your work. That means more views, more comments and more favorites.

On the artist's description in my submission, I have put the link to Ideals' Significant Other video on YouTube. Hopefully the more people see my deviation, the more people will see the video too. And I hope some of them will like their music and find out more about them.

I checked the video out again yesterday and as long as I remember, it had 8,900-ish hits. I forgot the exact number of views. Then, I checked it out again just now and it has 9,099 views! More than 100 views in a day is not bad, isn't it? Hopefully my artwork helps the raise of number of people who watch the video. Mmm... Okay, I actually not 100% sure about it... maybe the video is more famous than that and get more than 100 views a day...? Who knows? Maybe it has nothing to do with me.

Because of the DD, I got tons of comments on this work. One of them has become my favorite. Here is the link. Or if you're to lazy to click it, just look at the picture below. I have captured the comments and my replies.

Some comments on my work

Apparently a guy on DA (I think his name is Daniel) thought that my Book of Ideals is the kind of marketing that he wish he had for his band. No no no... It is not any kind of marketing for the band. I said to him that I made it simply because I love their music. That's all. As simple as that. I made it with all my heart and patience. It was my first papercutting ever. I made several mistakes, but it turned out that I can finish it (almost) perfectly.

Back to the comment. Daniel said I just earned a ton of free publicity with this DD and he's gonna check Ideals out. Another guy on the comment said that the band must be very happy to have a friend like me. Well, guys... thank you so much for your comments. I don't know how they feel. I don't know whether my work gave them ton of free publicity. They must be still great without me. I also don't know if they are happy to have a fan and friend (If they consider me a friend) like me. Let them decide...

After I knew that I got this work featured, I instantly told them on twitter. There is no reply. That's okay. Maybe they haven't checked their twitter since it seems that they are only active on Facebook. And currently, my Facebook account is being deactivated. So, hours later, I texted one of the band member (I won't mention which member as I am afraid my word will cause any misunderstanding about something or anything... or whatsoever). I told him about this DD. Told him about the link to their video as well. And told him that I have posted the link on my twitter. Mmm... There is still no reply. That's okay. Maybe he hasn't checked his phone or maybe his phone is lost or maybe something happened that make him not able to see the message.

So... It seems that the band don't care about anything I said about my work. Or maybe they don't get my message. Or... I just don't have idea what is really happened. The most important thing to me is... I sincerely made this work for them. I even gave the original work to them. I love their music always and happy to be able to know them. This DD actually makes more people see my art. I am grateful for that. Maybe I just got too excited if I have any news related to Ideals. And maybe I should stop being too excited. Well... I don't know. I have no idea what to do next.

PS: If there is anyone who reads this blog entry become misunderstand or misinterpret or misconception or mis-whatever, I am sorry. I have tried my best to write it as normal as possible so there will be no misleading into any different topic, such as—I don't know—err... relationship maybe.... Who knows...?

I posted about Book of Ideals got DD on my tumblr. And I just knew that it got featured on #Crafts. Wow! It makes me wonder is it work really that good? Because honestly I don't feel that way. Or maybe I just underestimate my own work?

Bombay Bicycle Club Live in Jakarta

Thank God It's Friday! wasn't just an ordinary phrase for all Bombay Bicycle Club's fans in Jakarta last Friday, January 13. We were really grateful for this day because the wonderful Bombay Bicycle Club was going to perform tonight at Fairgrounds (ex Bengkel Night Park). They were coming to Indonesia on the event called The People's Party, promoted by Shoundshine. Bombay Bicycle Club was not the only band that performed that night. We also have The Jezabels (Australia), The Naked and Famous (New Zealand) and Metronomy (UK). Not to mention the opening act by local band called Roman Foot Soldiers. But on this blog, I will concentrate on writing about Bombay Bicycle Club's performance since they are my favourite and they are the reason I came to this event. :)

The People's Party started at 7 pm sharp and Roman Foot Soldiers opened this event smoothly. This was the first time I heard their songs and I think they're good. The venue was still pretty empty when they performed, but we did enjoy the show. After RFS done with their job, it's time for The Jezabels to go on stage. These two bands weren't play a lot of songs, I guess. Their each performance took less than an hour.

And here we come! It's the performance I had been waiting for. Bombay Bicycle Club's crews were on the stage, preparing all the stuff for the band, including Louis Bhose. I love his band, Theme Park and I'm actually wondering how they're gonna touring when Louis is with BBC.

The crowds were going crazy as they heard Shuffle intro. Suren de Saram, Ed Nash, Jamie MacColl and Jack Steadman went on the stage to start the show. Without any further pause, they continued with Your Eyes—another song from their latest and third album A Different Kind of Fix. They were also performed their songs from the first and second albums—I Had the Blues But I Shook Them Loose and Flaws—such as Dust on the Ground, Evening/Morning and Ivy & Gold.

This four-piece-band kept making the audiences satisfied with their energetic performance as they sang Magnet and What You Want. The crowds—mostly girls—sang along the band perfectly. The night was getting hotter and the screams were getting louder when the band performed Lights Out, Words Gone which made all the people in the venue started to dance. (Personally, I think it would be perfect if Lucy Rose was here and sang her part of the song.) It reached the climax when Bombay Bicycle Club performed Always Like This, which had been shouted by the fans since the middle of the gig. All the audiences seemed to remember all the lyrics of this song, even Jack Steadman gave them chance to sing the part of this song loudly. After singing 13 songs, Bombay Bicycle Club closed the show with their last songs, What If. There's no encore in this show even tough all of us still wanted them to perform more and more songs.
